Garden District

New Orleans-The Garden District LA

An architectural paradise and living piece of history, this area is legendary.  Amazing Victorian side hall cottages and ante-bellum mansions stand together in the Garden District.  Tall ceilings, pine floors, verandahs, victory gardens, winding staircases and ancient oaks are part of the Garden district. New Orleans's beautiful Garden District was established in the 1830s and it's mostly famous for its impressive collection of 19th century southern mansions. In fact, the architecture and peacefulness of the place offer quite a contrast to what can be found in the French Quarter, so it's truly worth hopping on board the streetcar that goes along St. Charles Avenue to discover this other part of the city, which some locals describe as the "English Quarter".
